Baldur Hero Review:
Baldur’s special skill has a very interesting mechanic. Stats wise his defense is not very high, but has a significantly high attack stat.
Baldur in Offensive raids
In offensive raids, due to poor AI targeting, once Baldur is able to activate his special, the damage that he inflicts can be quite consistent. It is only the occasional snipe from enemy heroes to target him that would stop him, and that is a 1 in 5 chance.
Also, Baldur has great ability to turn raids around. His self-heal ability + damage means that you can continuously shoot down enemy heroes without having to charge up their mana. Subsequent activation of Baldur’s special would result in a heal for himself as well.
The major downside to Baldur’s special is that the damage he deals is to a random target. That means you can’t use his special to Snipe a target that is about to fire, Baldur is not as good against teams with healers (as you typically want to snipe healers/resurrections away asap).
In tournaments – Health boost does NOT work in Bloody Battle Tournaments.

Baldur in Defense
Baldur’s special combined with his stats actually makes him neither a tank, nor a striker.
His low defense is balanced out with the huge HP boost, and his high attack stat is moderated with a low modifier (150%) on his damage.
At a Tank position, Baldur would receive too much damage too quickly without being able to deal much damage, or make any significant impact to enemy team.
At Flank position, Baldur can be supported by heroes like Zeline, Heimdall etc in the tank position. Zeline’s attack debuff can help allow for maximum uptime on Baldur’s buff, while Heimdall’s Attack boost can help to maximize damage on the attack.

Baldur against Titans
Baldur makes a very good fit for the position of tile damage.
He has a high attack stat, combined with high durability. His “random targets” is no longer random because there is only 1 target.

Why is Baldur black and why does he look trans? No respect for the mythology that they’re copying. Trash
Looks more like you’re interpreting too much here. He’s neither black nor looks like trans at all and even if he did, where’s the problem?!
Hey. Sit down, you are about to receive a shock. There are more people of Asian ethnicity in the world than there are Caucasians. So when a character is tan, that is more representative of the world’s people. Also: it is July, so look at your skin. Is it darker than usual? That’s melanin, baby, a healthy response to the sun. Black peoples are beautiful humans. And I am assuming that many of them are more educated that you are. Stop acting ignorant, and start being helpful.
I think you missed the boat on the evaluations here. For titans, he does offer good tile damage but that little hit he does each round loses valuable time and it’s only about 130 per hit.
His special is great for him but the reality is with the game being as is, he offers real help. They shoulda made his special resistance to all negative mana instead of just the mana reduction
He is easily the worst of the S3 5*s and is no threat at all in offense
I’d give him a D- with the potential he of being a B if they make a buff because it’s a great idea that fell way short
Hi Jacodevo..
Thanks for you comments… if you simply take only his offensive capabilities into question – then sure he’s terrible.
When you add the 1000hp heal, and the damage output.. it makes quite a bit of difference.

Who in the world wrote this review? Baldur is only an A hero in a world where ratings start from AAAA.
Pretty much every one of these ratings needs to be taken down a notch, due to Baldur’s incredibly low damage and overly specific defensive boost. Who cares if his attack activates every turn, if each attack does roughly one tile’s worth of damage? On offense, his only real use is as a counter to Guinevere, Lady of the Lake, and the few other enemies that do direct mana damage; other than that, there’s very little point to having him around.
The worst offender, though, is Titans and Challenge events, as they are timed, and Baldur stops play for a second and a half every time he activates. It’s bad enough that your damage will be increades overall if you never activate his special at all. Titan damage should be rank C or D.
Overall this just looks like someone did a paper analysis without actually trying him in a game or even watching Youtube videos of other people trying him. He really is one of the worst 5-stars out there, worse even than the Season 1 heroes, and that’s saying something as Red Season 1 5-star is a barren wasteland.
Hello!
Baldur surely belongs to the weaker end of the A grade spectrum, (I should probably be more specific and start to add + and minuses to my grading). And therefore you are right.
But Baldur isn’t that weak when you compare him to the rest of the Red 5* heroes. And that’s because it’s exactly like you described – season 1 red heroes is a barren wasteland.. (except marjana)..
For comparison, here’s anchor’s grading for Baldur

OK…so obviously another round of adjustments, now Baldur has been bumped w additional 150 immediate strike (still random for some odd reason) and the every turn strikes are up to 150.
SO, will take more testing. I finally decided to try the rings on Baldur…was a tough choice between him, Lady Loki, or a 2nd Marjana. But Baldur seemed more worthy at preset.
He has been, not ineffective. The 200 health makes him really hard to kill. Given. Now that he hits 150 instead of 100, its still not sniper level…but the every turn thing when hes boosted does become noticable especially with an attack boost up. I find late in battles when say 1 or 2 enemies are already dead it becomes most noticeable.
I still wouldnt make him an A. He doesnt help his team like many good As (Telluria, for example), nor is he a 1 man gang when he isnt helping (Say a Seshat, whos special benefits only her but shes still an A for overall).
I think hes now a B+ maybe even creeping to wards A- even. If his damages were 200 it would be A level. Or even 150 x3 opponents for the primary hit. As it stands, he has definitely moved up just enough with the upgrade to where hes kinda useful. The 1st release he was GOOD in spots, as his B rating implied. but I was not actually using him on any of my 6 war teams unless I was stacking reds. He was that EHHHHH’ish for lack of a better word. 🙂
He isnt taking a spot on team 1 or 2, but last 2 wars he is settled in the back half, and he works well.
B+ or A- possibly as I dont have him maxed yet, hes at 4-55 so it may sway more as his tile damage maxes .
Sounds good!
I’ve only recently managed to set aside some time to update.
I agree with your comments and judgement on Baldur. Definitely lacking in some areas, but he isn’t terrible
